What this tool does
Minifying CSS removes comments, whitespace and line breaks to make the file as small as possible, which speeds up page loading. Beautifying does the opposite — it adds indentation and line breaks so the CSS is easy to read and edit.
When to minify
- For production websites, to reduce download size and improve performance.
- As part of a build step before deploying.
When to beautify
- When you receive minified CSS and need to understand or modify it.
- To restore consistent formatting to messy stylesheets.
Limitations
- This is a fast text-based minifier; it safely removes comments and collapses whitespace but does not rename or merge rules like a full optimizer.
