What this tool does
This generator produces random strings from the character set you choose, using the browser’s cryptographically secure random source. It is ideal for creating API keys, access tokens, salts, temporary identifiers and test data.
Example
A 32-character string with letters and numbers makes a strong API key, such as k3Jv9Qp2mZ7xR1aB8nD4eT6sW0yH5cF. Generate several at once by increasing the quantity.
Secure randomness
Values come from crypto.getRandomValues with unbiased selection, not the predictable Math.random(). This matters for anything security-related like keys and tokens.
Limitations & tips
- Symbols are limited to URL-safe characters (
-_.~) so the string works in URLs and headers. - Store generated keys securely and never commit them to public code repositories.
- Rotate API keys periodically and revoke any that may be exposed.
Privacy: Strings are generated locally in your browser.
