How the counts work
- Words — groups of characters separated by spaces or line breaks.
- Characters — every character including spaces; a second count excludes spaces.
- Sentences — segments ending in
.,!or?. - Paragraphs — blocks of text separated by blank lines.
- Reading time — estimated at about 200 words per minute.
Common length targets
- SEO title tag: about 50–60 characters.
- Meta description: about 150–160 characters.
- Tweet / X post: 280 characters.
Limitations
- Sentence and paragraph detection uses simple rules; unusual punctuation or formatting may affect the counts slightly.
- Reading time is an estimate and varies by reader and content difficulty.
